I could still remember the time when my elementary school nurse told me that I had a cold. During those days, nobody really doubted a school nurse. Her advice was highly trusted amongst the students. I could still remember how stuffy my nose was. If it wasn’t stuffy, it was draining.
A few years later, I started to doubt what the school nurse told me. “What is going on here? How could a cold actually last this long?” I decided to get a second opinion from different nurse. She told me that I had allergies.
So I went home and asked my parents about getting allergy medicine. My mom never used it before, although sinus problems were quite hereditary. They ended up giving me something that made me drowsy throughout the day. My teacher set me aside one day and actually accused me of taking illegal drugs. That was all because of the drowsy antihistamine I was taking.
That’s how my past was and I still continue to suffer from allergies and anything sinus related, including sinus infections. Here are 2 types of sinusitis (sinus infections). These 2 are called acute and chronic.
Here’s the details:
Acute Sinus Infection Symptoms
* Mucus drainage down the back of the throat
* Fever is common
* Facial pain or soreness
* Pressure around the sinus cavities
* Nasal discharge
* Vision problems
* Headaches
* Nasal congestion
* Pain behind the eyes
Symptoms of Chronic Sinus Infection
* Prolonged facial pain
* Pressure across or above your nasal passages
* Prolonged headaches
* Chronic sore throat
* Chronic nasal discharge
* Toothaches
* Bad breath
* Pain below the eyes
When Will These Sinus Infection Symptoms Go Away?
There’s man similarities between the 2 types of symptoms. The actual difference can be seen in the period of time for which symptoms will last. You can have acute sinus infections for 4-8 weeks. You can have chronic symptoms off and on throughout the year.
How Can I Treat Sinus Infections?
If your sinus infections aren’t severe, you can try over the counter medications to reduce some symptoms. Keep in mind that you should consult a medical professional, especially if you have pre-existing symptoms. Thinking in from your end, I’m sure you wouldn’t want to have any side effects.
